about me!!

my name is jay smith, i’m a self-taught freelance illustrator and graphic designer with interests in illustrating, character designing, concept art, and general graphic design! i’m currently 18, i’ve been drawing for as long as i can remember. i’ve always enjoyed creating art for others and the causes i support. as of writing this, i’ve mainly done commissions to clients who find me through social media as well as friends and family. i’ve also worked with website designing on the side along with graphic design. i’m learning to 3d model and sculpt. i’ve dabbled in many art mediums but primarily work with digital art. my primary program is Procreate, but i’ve used Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Animator, and Medibang. For graphic design I go between programs to build a visual but mainly Canva, Adobe Express, and Procreate as needed.besides the professional details, here’s my personal background!
i’m a queer trans (ftm) man who’s very interested in advocacy and educating. coming from a jewish family (slightly religious but mostly just ethnic), i care deeply about uplifting and fighting for any minority against systemic and bigoted issues and beliefs. i’d love to be able to use my art to promote that and support anyone that needs it. i have adhd and social anxiety that sometimes makes working difficult, but once i get interested and started with something i work very hard and diligently. as you might’ve gathered from my gallery or my socials, i make a lot of fan-art and am very interested in the convention artist alley space. i was a previous cosplayer and going to conventions and seeing all the artists with similar styles as mine really inspired me, though i still enjoy creating my own character designs and original pieces. my current art hobby involves doll designing and 3d modeling! i hope to learn how to create my own dolls at some point!
